The Academy's EyeSmart website provides ophthalmologist-reviewed information about eye diseases and treatments from A - Z, eye health news and tips for a lifetime of good eye health.

Texas Talking Book Program

The Texas Talking Book Program is a free state service that provides reading materials in different formats (large print, Braille, and digital audiobooks) to individuals who cannot read or hold a standard print book. The disability may be temporary or permanent. The Talking Book Program is a division of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.

Prevent Blindness Texas is the state's leading voluntary eye health and safety organization dedicated to preventing blindness and preserving sight by ensuring that all children are afforded the benefits of sight as they grow and that all adults are educated about proper eye healthcare and have access to that same care; paying close attention to issues surrounding the aging eye and upholding safe practices in eye care.

Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is well known for its wealth of information about the education of children with visual impairments. The directory of low vision service providers adds an additional valuable resource for professionals and parents who are seeking the best in medical and educational services for children with low vision. The directory may be accessed by going to the left side of the home page and finding the section, “I’m looking for…”, then click Low Vision Service Provider Directory. On this page there is also a link to a form for ophthalmologists who wish to add their offices/clinics to the directory.

American Academy of Ophthalmology | Eye Care America offering information on no-cost eye exams. A component of this offering is the Drug Discount Card for prescription drugs, OTC drugs and supplies written as prescriptions, and even pet prescription medicines! It cannot be used in combination with insurance. They’ll even customize the cards for your organization (add a logo, etc).
